FINE MOTOR SKILLS:
3 YEAR OLDS

· Holds crayon with thumb, index, and middle finger (tripod grasp)
· Completes a 3-5 piece puzzle
· Strings (5) 1” inch beads on a shoelace
· Holds scissors correctly (not often observed at 3)
· Snips with scissors (random snips)
· Cuts on a straight line
· Cuts out a circle
· Places tiny object into small container (cheerios, beads, etc.)
· Imitates a circle, vertical, and horizontal line
· Builds a “tower” of 10 cubes and other basic block designs of 3-4 blocks(1” inch blocks)
· Manipulates hands and fingers in finger paint
· Folds paper in half in imitation
· Hands work together to perform opposite motions
· Unscrews a jar lid and opens other containers
· Manipulates, squeezes, and depresses clay/Playdoh with hands and Playdoh tools
· Takes apart and puts together pop-beads
· Uses utensils during mealtime, without spillage
· Undresses completely without assistance
· Puts coat and shirt on
· Unbuttons 1” inch buttons, unzips front zipper, pulls coat zipper up once connected
· Washes and dries hands without assistance
